01.10.07 thequest UPdate
thequest family,
I've been musing this week about this verse.
"Those who remain in me [Jesus], and I in them, will produce much fruit."
John 15:1-8 NLT
I was thinking about the incredible creativity of God. Fruit was His idea. It tastes good and has the seeds of the next generation of life embedded.
God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” It was so. The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:11-12 NET Bible
Plants produce seeds for propagation. Trees bear fruit--with seeds--for the next round of trees to be "born." It's the way things are.
Similarly, Jesus compares our relationship to Him to the natural order. Disciples of Jesus--who remain connected to him produce fruit.
Many of you are scratching your head saying, "Duh Mike." For me it was a simple and profound insight. Something I probably knew but stepped into an better understanding of. I hope it encourages you...
"Those who remain in me [Jesus], and I in them, will produce much fruit."
John 15:1-8 NLT
Press on,
Mike
